Chorey Les Beaune, Domaine Maratray, Debreuil, France 2021

£27

Upon opening and sipping this I get a more typical old school aroma of the woods, with earthy, savoury notes, rather than the black fruit nose and opulence of the 2020. On the nose and palate, the fruit coming through has that tension between ripeness and acidity that has gone to making Burgundy so intriguing over the years, and often long-lived.  I like it a lot. While the 2020 was so easy to love, I think this takes you back to the quantities of Burgundy which we are all so fond of. As usual, they've managed the tannins incredibly well, so the mouthfeel is easy, and juicy, with nice acidity to the finish that carries the flavours.
